The Dissertation Prize Award Ceremony funded by Feministisch Cultuurfonds voor Gender&wetenschap will take place on Friday October 27 at the Tuinzaal of the Centraal Museum Utrecht.
The two shortlisted nominees of 2023 are Dr. Benedicta Deogratias and Dr. Sophie van den Elzen.

The Dissertation Prize Award Ceremony will be combined with the annual NOG Day 2023.
To enter the Tuinzaal of the Centraal Museum it’s best if you go through the side entrance at the Nicolaasdwarsstraat 14, Utrecht.

We’ll meet at 12.30h for a catching up lunch in the Tuinzaal of the Centraal Museum Utrecht, which, apart from offering a nice meeting space, also has two feminist exhibitions on show:

At 13.15h, we’ll start with a panel discussion on the recent national and global backlashes in the field of Gender and Sexuality Studies. The confirmed speakers are Alyosxa Tudor (SOAS), Constance Sommerey (UM), Wigbertson Julian Isenia (UvA) and Ea Utoft (RU).

At 15h we’ll have a tea-break and there will be a possibility to visit the exhibitions.

At 15.30h, we will continue with the Dissertation Prize Award Ceremony funded by Feministisch Cultuurfonds voor Gender&wetenschap.

The two shortlisted nominees of 2023 are Dr. Benedicta Deogratias and Dr. Sophie van den Elzen. They will introduce their nominated books:

Trapped in a Religious Marriage: A Human Rights Perspective on the Phenomenon of Marital Captivity. (Benedicta Deogratias)

And:

Antislavery in the Transnational Movement for Women’s Rights, 1832-1914: A Study of Memory Work. (Sophie van der Elzen)

They will be interviewed by Prof. Dr. Mineke Bosch.
The FC G&W Dissertation Prize will be awarded by the chair of the jury Prof. Dr. Rosemarie Buikema.

At 16.15h, we will have the formal installation of new board and curriculum members and a plenary discussion with the audience and representatives of the NOG Board, the NOG curriculum committee and the NOG PhD council about wishes and ideas for the years to come.
