Comics, Memory, Activism: Reimagining the Past and the Future through Words and Images will take place on Monday 24 August 2026, from 10.00 to 14.00, at Janskerkhof 2–3, room 0.19, Utrecht University. Walk-in and coffee will begin at 9.30.

The event brings together interdisciplinary scholars and artistic researchers working at the intersection of comics, memory and activism. The programme includes research presentations connected to the Memory, Mind & Media special collection Comics, Memory, Activism, the workshop “Drawn Activism: Scavenging Fragments of Memory,” a roundtable on “Memory, Activism and the Politics of Representation,” and the exhibition “How to Draw Attention.” The event is open to researchers, PhD candidates and RMA students, as well as comics creators and anyone interested in the topic. Further details can be found in the attached flyer.
