Adriano José Habed works as an Assistant Professor in Gender and Postcolonial Studies at the Department of Media and Culture Studies (MCW), Utrecht University. He has been investigating the notion of queer critique and the discontents with it, focusing on the work of Michel Foucault, Judith Butler, and Eve K. Sedgwick, as well on contemporary strands in queer and literary theory such as postcritique and a queer theory without antinormativity. Next to exploring the challenges queer critique faces from within Gender Studies, he has been studying the attacks on queer and feminist knowledge coming from right-wing, authoritarian, and so-called “anti-gender” actors and movements.
