Dissertation Award Feminist Cultural Fund Gender&knowledge

Did you write a dissertation in the field of Gender Studies or did gender as a category take center stage in your PhD research? Do you have a concrete plan to further disseminate your research findings?

Apply for the Dissertation Award 2025 of the Feminist Cultural Fund Gender&knowledge in cooperation with the Netherlands Research School of Gender Studies (NOG)!

 

The award consists of 5.000 euros, part of which is preferably reserved for the dissemination of the research. The award has been initiated by the Feminist Cultural Fund Gender&knowledge ‘to stimulate and spread feminist knowledge with a particular focus on historical knowledge and a critical reflection on culture and science from an intersectional and inclusive perspective’.

To qualify:

  • The dissertation (in Dutch or English) ought to have been defended at a Dutch University, regardless of discipline. Did you write in another language then please contact the NOG first, nog@uu.nl
  • The dissertation has been defended between 1 July 2022 and 30 April 2025.

Application and deadline:

Please send the following documents before May 1, 2025:

  • a digital copy of your dissertation in pdf format .
  • a dissemination plan (max. 600 words) that clearly states its intended audience and an explanation why the chosen dissemination format fits the intended audience best.
  • one recommendation letter (max. 500 words) in which the author mentions name, current position and the nature of their relationship with the dissertation author.

Please also send one physical copy of your dissertation to the Netherlands Research School of Gender Studies (NOG), Muntstraat 2A, 3512 EV, Utrecht.

Assessment criteria:

  • The research offers an original and innovative contribution to academic gender research within the Netherlands.
  • The potential impact of the research is evident from the dissemination plan.

 

The jury, chaired by prof.dr. Lies Wesseling (UM), consists of experts in Gender Studies: em prof.dr. Rosemarie Buikema (UU), dr. Benedicta Deogratias (University of Aruba), em prof.dr. Maria Grever (EUR), prof.dr. Liesbeth Lijnzaad (UM), prof.dr. Petra Rudolf (RUG), prof.dr. Sally Wyatt (UM).

The award will be presented in October 2025 during the annual NOG symposium.
